Leg Pain

January 20th, 2011

Lower leg disorders resulting in CA leg pain, range from the benign to life threatening. Those with a history of trauma, overuse, or disuse will help to specify the kind of disorder you are suffering from. Leg pain in San Jose in the calf area, especially among seniors, is usually indicative of deep vein thrombosis. Leg swelling from trauma or muscle strain is very similar to that of thrombosis. This makes it hard to determine cases of this life threatening leg disorder.

Leg pain is common among athletes who exercises frequently. The pain is derived from biomechanical imbalance in the feet, putting added pressure in the calf.

Your Chiropractor, Dr Seth Lueders DC, will perform a thorough history and examination including orthopaedic, neurological testing and diagnostic radiography to determine the true cause of your leg pain. The chiropractor will then develop a plan of therapy for your condition.

Joint Pain Chiropractor Treatment

January 15th, 2011

Osteoarthritis is defined as a degenerative disease that may occur in any synovial joint. Unlike an acute condition, San Jose osteoarthritis is a recurrent and long-lasting illness. It is usually the hip, knees and joints of the hand that are affected in osteoarthritis. In the older population, or those 55 years old and above, an estimated 50% have osteoarthritis. There are two main categories of osteoarthritis:
1. Primary osteoarthritis – a result of repeated and too much strain. A history of the disease in relatives also predisposes a person to it.
2. Secondary osteoarthritis – almost always a consequence of trauma.

The most common signs and symptoms of osteoarthritis in CA are:
1. Pain – the first symptom that moves the patient to pursue treatment and care
2. Stiffness – of joints is a characteristic that is common in the morning
3. Swelling – is a sign of an inflammatory condition
4. Crepitus – a popping sound that comes when lubrication is absent and synovia rub against each other

Osteoarthritis therapy at San Jose Chiropractor includes:
1. Weight loss – to reduce stress on weight bearing joints
2. Exercise – increases muscle strength and encourages cartilage formation
3. Diet – include sufficient amount of calcium, Glucosamine sulfate, Chondroitin sulfate, and vitamins C & D
4. Heat – can be beneficial in minimizing the pain and stiffness of osteoarthritis

By doing a comprehensive history-taking, examination and orthopaedic as well as neuroligical testing, and aided by radiographic images, your Chiropractor, Dr Seth Lueders DC, can diagnose your osteoarthritis and its level of severity. By doing so, he can create a plan of management and adjust it to suit your specific case and needs.

San Jose Rheumatoid Arthritis Care

December 30th, 2010

Rheumatoid arthritis is a chronic widespread inflammatory autoimmune disease with unknown etiology. It is a common misconception that rheumatoid arthritis only affects joints, states Dr Seth Lueders DC. All the connective tissues throughout the body, muscles, tendons, and nerves inclusive, are components that are affected by this disease.

With the onset of rheumatoid arthritis – generally among women who are about 40 years old – there is a common complaint of extremity joint stiffness and soreness in the morning. It is also common for the patient with CA rheumatoid arthritis to feel, or generally unwell. Rheumatoid arthritis starts slowly and progresses gradually.

Rheumatoid arthritis treatment is aimed at reducing pain and discomfort, maintaining an active and productive life and preventing deformities and loss of joint function.

Treatment with the chiropractor in San Jose begins with a detailed health history and diagnostic testing. For more severe cases of rheumatoid arthritis, some laboratory and X-ray testing may be needed. From the results, a chiropractic treatment regiment will be formulated according to your particular needs.

Pain Hip Region

December 24th, 2010

Hips are stable and will not dislocate without blunt force. The hip is more prone to bone and joint damage. Since the hip is a weight loaded joint, seniors in CA experience hip fracture more frequently. Conditions such as infant congenital disorders, adolescent trauma, adolescent growth plate or elderly fracture, are less likely determinants of hip pain than age itself.

Some patients describe their pain as being located in the hip; however, more often the pain is related to the buttocks region and/or the back. The internal structure of the hip joint, or other surrounding bones, can be causing a patient’s hip pain. According to Dr Seth Lueders DC, falls can be blamed for most instances of hip pain. This often results in soft tissue injury such as a contusion or a trochanteric bursitis. Since activity aggravates the hip, the patient should rest to alleviate the pain.

The following are some ways to treat hip pain from San Jose Chiropractor: 1. Schedule regular chiropractic visits 2. Reduce stress whenever possible as they can aggravate the pain 3. Treat your acute hip pain with rest and recuperation 4. Get into an exercise routine – muscle fatigue can contribute to injury, which in turn can cause pain 5. It’s important to keep a positive frame of mind so that you can look forward to better days ahead

Expect your chiropractor in San Jose to investigate your health history by performing neurological, orthopaedic and radiography testing so that he or she can discover causes for your hip pain. After thorough exams, expect a personalized treatment plan from your chiropractor.

Back Pain

December 13th, 2010

Documents show that people feeling intense back pain for an extended period can also be feeling depressed. But a study from the University of Alberta published in the journal Pain in 2004, by Dr. Linda Carroll, shows the reverse can be true as well. Dr Seth Lueders DC agrees with this conclusion. The chance of low-back pain and neck pain can be greater if you are currently depressed. People suffering from depression are more likely to experience immobilizing low-back and neck pains than those who are not depressed – by about four times – as shown in Dr. Carroll’s studies.

Studies suggest that depression has been attributed to the under-production of norepinephrine or serotonin, or both, and affects over 8 million people in the United States, CA inclusive.

When a person is depressed, they generally experience feelings of grief, misery, despair, and unhappiness. Depression can also cause a lower appetite and sex drive, as well as severe insomnia. Often associated with all these is a state of psychomotor agitation despite the depression.

Patients with mental depression in San Jose sometimes have bipolar disorder or manic-depressive psychosis. This is when their state alternates between mania and depression.

The doctor of chiropractic will generally administer orthopaedic and neurological exams, as well as go through your health history. From this, your chiropractor at San Jose Chiropractor will be able to design a personalized treatment plan specific to your condition.

Bunion Chiropractic Care

November 30th, 2010

In San Jose, a bunion, or what’s scientifically called Hallux Valgus, is what occurs when the 1st metatarsal phalangeal joint deviates, causing pain and discomfort around area. Middle-aged women are the most common sufferers of bunions, although they are generally hereditary.

When the proxminal phalanx deviates laterally, a bunion is created. Dr Seth Lueders DC states, the development of bunions can be accelerated by the following conditions: Morton’s deformity, forefoot varus, inflammatory arthritis, and wearing high heels too often. The deviation triggers pressure in the big toe (first metatarsal phalangeal joint), which causes localized bursitis and an eventual bunion.

Your chiropractor at San Jose Chiropractor will perform a thorough history and examination including orthopaedic, neurological testing, and diagnostic radiography to determine the severity of your bunion. Based on these results, your doctor will develop a plan especially for you.

Knee Injury Chiropractor Treatment

November 22nd, 2010

Knee injuries, or at least knee aches and pains, are extremely common in chiropractic. Patients often seek chiropractic care as an alternative to orthopaedic consultation for knee pain. A chiropractor employs a scientific approach to healing knee pain; he assesses the patient for possible spinal or pelvic association and localized dysfunction of the knee.

Like a sitting duck, the knee is essentially susceptible to injury from many forces such as the following and all these can lead to knee pain:
1. Injuries from impact
2. Exterior blows to the knee
3. Afflictions from dashboard
4.Direct impact falls

Overuse or disuse of the knee can develop into soft tissue injuries and cause knee pain. A big percentage of visits to a chiropractor’s office are due to:
1. Anterior knee pain from an athlete
2. Senior patients complaining of stiffness and knee pain.
3. Youthful athlete feeling tenderness over the tibial tuberosity.
4. Patient verbalizing that his knee is giving way, or knee instability.

Most knee pain therapy involves a conservative approach. An assortment of non-surgical therapeutic methods often works to alleviate knee pain. Chiropractic adjustments, applying heat or cold, strengthening exercises for muscles that support the knee and avoidance of activities that intensify the knee pain.

These are what your chiropractor will do first: take a thorough history, perform neurological and orthopaedic tests and take diagnostic radiograms to determine the cause of your knee pain. Based on these, your chiropractor will design a particular management plan that is appropriate for your case.

San Jose Neck Pain Therapy

November 19th, 2010

Neck pain is present in 9% of adult males and 12% of adult females at any given time. The occurrence of San Jose neck pain is almost half as much as the occurrence of back pain. Among those who work, approximately 45% will experience a stiff neck at some point; these people will most often continue working despite the pain, unlike those with back pain. Resulting from increased flexibility, the neck becomes less stable and does not have as much protection. This can cause the structures in the neck to become disrupted, and results in neck pain.

Oftentimes, neck pain may actually be referring to shoulder pain, and vice versa. Injury to muscles, tendons, and ligaments in the shoulder and neck generally cause neck or shoulder pain, states Dr Seth Lueders DC. Whiplash can cause these injuries. Irritation from arthritis in the neck area or upper spine can create pain that ranges from the neck to shoulders. Lastly, shoulder pain and neck pain can also be triggered by heart, lung, or spinal cord illnesses.

Visit your doctor of chiropractic CA to find the root cause of your neck pain; the chiropractor will evaluate the structure of your neck. The carotid and vertebral arteries, facet joints, surrounding joints and muscles, etc. will be examined by the doctor.

Latest Testimonials

“This is for you who do not believe chiropractors can be helpful and make a difference. One week ago I was in such low back pain I almost couldn’t walk and was confined to my bed. A friend of mine kept telling me to go to a chiropractor and I didn’t listen and my back kept getting worse. I finally gave in and listened to my friend and came to Dr. Lueders. After one visit with him I was amazed to see relief from my agonizing back pain and was able to walk upright. It has now been one week and three visits later I feel amazing and my back pain is almost completely gone. I am truly a believer and will always tell people this real life experience and how amazing chiropractors are and they do work.

Amanda J., San Jose, CA

I am a regular long-time patient of Dr. Lueders. Recently my right leg form the knee to the foot began to swell. I went to the MD and was told that they didn’t know what was going on. I went to see Dr. Lueders with the leg still quite swollen. After the treatment ABC (Advanced BioStructural Correction technique), I went home and was on my feet all day. The swelling is gone and so is the pain! Thanks Dr. Lueders!!

This next patient has had knee surgery to repair torn cartilage and is anticipating the other knee to get operated on. She writes:
